WRITING CAPTIONS

Get five pictures that you have taken yourselves or that you know very well as to the people and the things captured there, the time, and the place associated with the highlighted. Use the questions for the social functions and the tables of analysis as a guide to write a caption. Make sure that your sentences are grammatically correct.

1. Infinity War Caption

Avengers, Infinity War Highest Opening Ever : Infinity War made around $ 630 million at the worldwide box offices for its opening weekend, breaking the record global opening held by Universal’s "The Fate of the Furious." in 2017.

2. Ronaldo moved to Juventus

The biggest summer transfer : Cristiano Ronaldo was leaving Real Madrid to join Juventus with a transfer fee at €100 million to bring in the five-time Ballon d'Or winner to play in the Allianz Stadium.

3. Inter backed to Champion League

Historical Winning : Inter Milan ended a six-season absence from the Champions League on Sunday when they won 3-2 at Lazio at the final week and take the fourth place in Serie-A final standings.

4. Trumph and Kim Jong Un

The historic meeting : President Trump and North Korea's leader, Kim, early Tuesday signed several agreements, one of which was the issue of using nuclear weapons.

5. MUI rejects Rubella Vaccine

No Halal Certificate: The Indonesian Council Ulama strongly rejected the use of rubella vaccine by the Health Ministry to children because the halal status is unclear.

ASSIGNMENT M4 LA2

            As an assignment, you will compare three types of captions from newspapers or magazines, by stating the similarities and differences of the three news reports in regard to (1) social functions, (2) text structures, and (3) lexicogrammatical features, based on the analyses you have done previously.

Here are the steps you need to follow:

1) First, focus only on the social functions, then identify the similarities and differences.

2) Second, focus only on the text structures, then identify the similarities and differences.

3) Third, focus only on the lexicogrammatical features, then identify the similarities and differences.

4) Finally, make a summary to compare the three texts. Then, make your own conclusion about photo captions in English.

Summary	The three captions have showed the complete information regarding the text structure. The content seems to have same structure such as the subject involved, the event, the details of the event.

Summary	All three captions have same lexicogrammatical such as the using of complete sentence, the tense and bold characters. But the caption 3 is different because it does not show the place of event, deny the prepositional phrase.

Photo captions are a few lines of text used to explain or elaborate on published photographs. Captions is a short (usually one-line) title/explanation for the photo, generally describing the photograph, giving context, or relating it to the article and it makes the readers feel interested to read the articles.
